Gibson Bundle for Paint Brush Studio March Madness

 Hi Everyone!

Well, today and tomorrow my bundle for Paint Brush Studios is up for vote!  You may recall they are having a March Madness event, with brackets and voting for different color palettes.  Read more about the event here.

Here is the palette I chose (the color numbers are listed below the photo).  As you may recall, I am calling this combination "Gibson."

Here is the backstory to my selection.  I think I already mentioned that a short while ago, my munchkin (she does not like to be called Sweet Pea anymore...what am I going to do??) tried out for a position in one of the workshop (nonperforming) bands in the Kalamazoo Academy of Rock.  Super exciting day.

The Kalamazoo Academy of Rock is housed in a building that used to be the Gibson guitar factory.  Many famous people have used Gibson guitars.  Perhaps the most notable one is Carlos Santana. 

This old building is a pretty neat historic site in Kalamazoo.  The Kalamazoo Academy of Rock is up there on the second floor to the left, where those turquoise and white windows are.

 

When we walked in, I saw those windows from inside.  They are right behind where the band plays.  They are awesome.  I loved them.  I was inspired by them!  I selected my palette based on them and hope to make a quilt based on them.  More on that, as well as a little more about the building, later.

Really Kinda Random

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Random factoid about me:  I am 1/4 Irish, 1/4 German, 1/4 Norwegian, and 1/4 Czech.

 

I got a nice smelling package in the mail today.  Sweet Pea and I both have really dry skin, and so we switched from regular soaps to handmade, goats milk soap.  But I ran out and didn't get my order placed before we did, so I had to use some store bought soap.  I am so itchy!  I was really excited that my order from Pleasant View Soaps came today.  I love Hannah's soaps!  When I cut the box open, I love how the smell wafts out.  Yum.  And Hannah threw in a lip balm for me, too.  Mmmm!  Thank you, Hannah!  I am so excited to pitch that soap I have in the shower and get back to your lovely soap!

 

I think I mentioned we moved.  We have a pretty, little lake behind our house.  The other night I caught a great sunset over the lake.

 

Sweet Pea has been taking drum lessons for a few years now.  She tried out for a position in a band for the Kalamazoo Academy of Rock.  The instructor said she was good enough to be in the band, but they already had a drummer.  Would she be willing to sing?  Sweet Pea said, "Yeah!"  He said, "It's all hard rock."  She smiled and said, "Bring it!"  Love it.  First performance on May 7!!

 

I bet you did not know that the original factory for Gibson guitars is in Kalamazoo, Michigan!  (They are made in Nashville.)  Lots of famous musicians play on Gibson guitars--like Carlos Santana and Eric Clapton.  For a complete list, check it out on Wikipedia.  The Kalamazoo Academy of Rock is housed in the old Gibson guitar factory.  See the word Gibson on the smoke stack?  More on this old building later.
