She will keep those quilts and the memories with her forever!!! My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was about that age. It was a zig-zag pattern, and I couldn't figure out how to do the corners. At the end of each zig, I would hand the blanket to my grandmother, who would drop everything and work the zag for me with love and patience. Best memory EVER!

Wow Sweet Pea, you did an amazing job with your sewing.. I imagine you had a good teacher too. Your dolly looks quite comfortable in her new bed outfit.. lucky dolly too! Keep up the good work!!

Candice

I LOVE this post, as Sweet Pea did a marvelous job. You must be one proud momma!!! :)

Linda in Calif.

Oh that is so cute!! I just love the LOVE in the middle - fussy cutting always makes a quilt better. And I agree with your choices for the thread - so much more fun with cool colors. Good job Sweet Pea!!

Jana

She did such a great job! Now her obsession begins...

Sue

Well now, that is just precious! I'm still waiting for my 26 year old daughter to ask me to teach her :D

Aunt Pea

Great work Sweet Pea! I can't wait to show this to Bobo Pea....

Yes Great Job SwtP! Now will you teach me to use your mama's machine - I have one foot on mine -it's a 1/4", a walking foot, a zipper foot-it's everything! and what do you mean 'you slowed it down'? Ooh, I love SwtP's hair -isn't it nice when children have such natural hilites! And her sweet tiny little hands.. Have fun in Spain Mama - see you in 2 wks SwtP.

Peg

Oh, I am so proud of this granddaughter of mine! I wouldn't have believed that she could do such a great job, except I guess the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree, as they say! ;-)
Great job, Sweet Pea, you are wonderful. Can't wait to see what your next project will be. And she did a wonderful job on the top stitching with the walking foot too. She's going to be a master quilter if she sticks with it!

Doris

I really like the photo of the purple thread, where you can see her mouth and the determination and concentration she has! Fabulous first job, and I think she did earn that HK sewing machine.

Enjoy your trip to Spain, wish I could tag along...

Caitlin

that is so awesome! I remember the day my mum first taught me to sew it was great :D

Myra

So fun! Way to go Sweet Pea! Inspires me to teach mine how to sew too!

I came across a great post about teaching girls to sew. It's got some really good advice.

You did most of the things she advised. Sweet Pea looks so proud and her doll looks very comfy and warm.

Susie at ProsperityStuff

Awesome! I have three young daughters, and, lately, they're loving the chances they get to sew, too. Great job teaching!!!
