Hello Everyone!
So sorry I'm late today in getting this post up! I have been run, run, running all week. The first couple of weeks are just crazy for me. Yesterday, I started meetings at 8:30 in the morning and taught class until 9:00 at night. I didn't get home until after 10:00 pm. Today, I had to be at work in meetings, working with students, etc. from 8:00 am until about 6:30 pm. It's just plain tiring sometimes! Sorry I haven't had 5 minutes to get this post up!
Well, how are you coming along on your little trees? I hope you had fun cutting and sewing!
I need 25 blocks for my wall hanging, so my goal was to get 13 of them sewn this past weekend. I did it!
Here is one set....reds and pinks. I think these fabrics worked out pretty fun!
Turquoise ones. You probably recognize some of these as my "test blocks" that I posted last week.
A mixture of blocks. I can tell I was pretty tired when I took these photos. They aren't centered well and the lighting wasn't great.
And here's the last one I have done.
I have everything else cut. So, I just need to finish sewing them this week. I have to tell you, on Saturday last week, when I worked on these, I was so tired and burned out from the week at work, I almost didn't feel like sewing. But I knew I had to get these done. So, I did them, and then I quit for the weekend. I was just too tired to do anything else. Do you ever get like that? I have a knitting project that I'm working on, and I just spent some time loafing in front of the TV and working on that instead.
I feel a little burned out this weekend, too, from a number of long days at work. So, tomorrow, a very nice friend is keeping Sweet Pea for a while for me so I can go to a sewing class in Grand Rapids. I am looking forward to sitting back, watching a trunk show in the morning, and doing a half-day class in the afternoon. I need the brain break. I'm very grateful to my friends for watching Sweet Pea for me. (Papa Pea has another commitment.) I'll report more on that next week. (Caroll, if you're reading this, I wonder if I'll see you there? I just decided to go today. Sorry I didn't give you any more notice! I only learned abou the class on Tuesday!)
I am anxious to head over to Flickr and look at the trees you all have been submitting. I was there earlier in the week and saw some pretty neat stuff! I need to go get caught up. (I haven't even posted mine yet!) Remember, you have until midnight tonight to get in on the current giveaway, so get your photos posted! Even if you didn't finish half of your trees, at least show us what you did get done! Even if you aren't participating, you might want to go check out the trees. There's some pretty fun stuff.
Don't forget to head on over to Linda's blog, too, and check out her progress. And you'll love the end of her post today! I won't be a spoiler and tell you what it is. It's awesome! I wish that would happen at my house! Too fun! Go check it out!
Okay, ready for next week's assignment? It's pretty easy! (Well, for some of us. Some of you insane people are making like 99 blocks! I LOVE IT!)
- Finish sewing up your little trees.
- Piece your rows together.
- Sew your rows so that the top of your quilt is done.
Pretty straightforward and hopefully accomplishable! Can't wait to see all your layouts!
For another surprise giveaway, post your completed quilt top (or for those of you making really big quilts, at least post your progress!) on our Flickr group by Friday, September 23 at midnight. I'll enter you all in a drawing for a fun prize!
Happy sewing, everyone. I'm going to go get some rest, now!
Until next time,
Mama Pea
