I'm getting very excited for my live, in-person doll-making class with Colleen Babcock of the Magic Bean later this week. You might remember she lives in Great Britain, so I am excited to get a class from her in real life! Heading up to Canada! (Actually from here, it's not very far up...more like over! At least to this part of Canada. haha)
I started laying out my fabrics, threads, trims, and beads to get ready. I am sort of excited about these silks I got for it. They are sort of funky, but my selection was somewhat limited. I think that limited selection forced me to choose a color palette (did I spell that right? I have trouble with that word) I wouldn't normally choose. I don't need all the trims and beads, but I wanted to have an assortment so I could choose once I get there and see how it's coming together. I think this is all really pretty, and I can't wait. I can't wait to see if I can make this (above), turn into this (click here to see the doll we're making--it's the Stitch in Time doll on this page).
We were supposed to get fun fur for the bottom of the doll's dress, but I liked this rabbit fur instead. I thought it looked great with the silks. What do you think? And I love all the thread colors!
I may not be able to blog much for the next couple of days while I'm in class, but I'll try to take lots of photos to share with you when it's all said and done! If I can blog while I'm there, I'll sure try to!
Oh, and for the record, I did NOT get my Soul Whisperer doll finished. I had hoped to finish it before this trip so I could show it to Colleen. I just didn't have enough time. I think I'll bring her anyway, just to show her and to get some feedback on specific portions of it.
Until next time!
Mama Pea
Oh, my, she is lovely. I can't wait to see her. I hope you will get the other doll done sometime too as I thought she was so interesting. Have you checked out Julie's dolls at the Attic?

Have lots of fun! It is always better to take more than you think you will need. It always seems like the perfect embellishment is the one I didn't bring! LOL!

Love the colours, love the fur, love the fact you will be in Canada, don't love the fact, you are still 8 hours from me.

Lots of fun wasn't it!
I was too tired to work on my doll after I got home.
Thanks for your email. Will catch up later when I get my own computer back.
