What a strange morning we're having here in Michigan. We went outside and waited for the bus. Waited. Waited. It is super windy. We have had wind warnings since last night. But, it's nice and warm. I've been wearing sandals for the last three days!!!
We finally gave up waiting for the bus. Didn't think we had missed it. Tried to call the bus garage to see if they were just running late. No answer. Hmmmm.... Got online and saw that several schools (including ours) are closed due to the high winds and tornado watches in effect. Okay. That's a little weird for this time of year! Sweet Pea was happy. Now, Papa Pea and I have to figure out how to juggle our schedules a little today, since we both have stuff going on at the same time and we can't cancel it.
This past weekend, I got the final piece of the block sewn on for the 40 blocks I had in progress. Remember, these are from the Fat Quarterly Quilt Along. Here is a sample:
There are two of each of these, except the center square is a different color in the second version. I think they are pretty cute. I have 40 more to make...with solid around the outside and the print in the middle.
These are the jelly rolls I bought to use for the solid outsides. They are so scrumptious.
Here's another view from the other side.
I am amazed at how much less expensive the Kona is than printed fabric. Very reasonably priced, so I bought two jelly rolls...one in the classic colors and the other in the brights. These are the same lines I pulled from the charm packs for the centers. I figure I can pull 20 strips from these two jelly rolls and still have lots left for my 2.5" scrap stash.
Now, if I can just bring myself to open them. That's always the hardest part for me. How about you?
Until next time,
Mama Pea
