Hello All!
Hope everyone is enjoying their day. It's raining again in Michigan today. I am getting tired of this rain. If you ask me, we've had really crappy weather this summer so far. Hope it will improve. When it is sunny, it is so humid and sultry it's really uncomfortable. When it's not, it's raining!
Here are a few more photos of our house progress so far. Here is a photo of what we will use as a guest bedroom:
This is the nicest and newest carpet in the house. There is cloud wallpaper above the ledge and unicorns and rainbows below. It was probably pretty at one time for some little girl. At least only two walls were wallpapered. That made the job a little easier.
And here it is after we tore out the carpet (it still stank like smoke, even thought it looked pretty good) and I took the wallpaper and curtains down:
I do like the wooden shelves that were placed on the ledge (they are in the floor in this picture). After we paint, we'll put these back up.
Here is the other bedroom downstairs. It is really small. We will use it for a den/study.
Airplanes and clouds. Well, this room went pretty fast, because it was mostly border and only one wall with wall paper. We tore out this carpet, too. You can see right next to the heat radiator there is a little damage to the wall. We think this is water damage (the gutters on the house are not in good shape), so we'll repair that. We tore out the carpet here, too, because it smelled like smoke.
After our destruction:
You can see a little of the carpet pad still blued to the floor. A least it was only glued to the perimeter. We need to do a little scraping in here.
How about this light switch plate? It was in the unicorn room:
Ha ha! How fitting! There was a Big Bird one up in what will be Sweet Pea's room. I took it down when she wasn't looking. I didn't figure she'd notice. Well, it was the first thing she noticed when we walked in the other day, and let me tell you...she was MAD that I took it down. I told her we had to take it down so we didn't get paint on it. That relieved her. I didn't have the heart to tell her I don't plan to put it back up. Hmmm...we may have to go shopping for a pretty flowered one to appease her!
Well, Papa Pea has been priming for the past couple of days. That's coming along nicely. I have misplaced my battery charger for my camera battery, so I haven't taken photos yet. I hope to do that soon! Where could I have put that thing? Everything in both houses feels in disarray right now.
The water softener is being put in next Thursday, and we are having all new gutters installed around the house in a week or so. That will help with some of the water damage. We are ordering carpet for upstairs today. We decided we are going to live in it for a year and wait on the addition a little to be sure what we want to do. So, we are going to go ahead and carpet the upstairs. We might even spring for linoleum in the kitchen for now (we want hardwood eventually)...until we do the addition and kitchen remodel. We'll see how much it costs...
I'll keep you posted on progress. Needless to say, I haven't been getting much sewing time in lately. My grant consultant is coming in this afternoon, so I probably won't have much Internet time the next few days.
Have a wonderful day!
Until next time,
Mama Pea
Wow! You are making good progress, but it's a lot of work!
You might be able to get a little money for those switch plates. They might be vintage from the 70s when Sesame Street first came out. Somebody on Ebay might pay a few dollars for them.
