This weekend, we had a little Valentine-making party at my house. My friend, Jessica, had found this cute tutorial online at Skip To My Lou for making some butterflies out of suckers. So, we--along with some other friends--decided to get together and make them for Valentines. (Myra, we missed you guys....)
Here are some of our finished products. Aren't they cute?! It was so easy when we divided up the work. I printed out the printable from the link above, and I made cardstock copies for everyone. Someone else brought suckers, and yet another person brought googlie eyes and stickers. It made the prep work so easy.
The girls helped a little. Sweet Pea did some cutting. She and her friend helped stick on stickers and put the sucker sticks through. The big girls (moms and friends) did the gluing if the googlie eyes. They were a little more tricky.
The girls pooped out on us early, though, and wanted to go play. So, the big girls drank wine, ate pizza, and finished it up. It was an enjoyable evening with friends. The kids got along well and played nicely, too.
Between the three of us big girls and two little girls, we made 108 or so of these. That's a lot of valentines. But it went so fast in the company of friends! If you're looking for a fun craft to do with your kids for Valentine's Day, this was a good one. I feel particularly good to have valentines all ready to go and it's not even February yet. Wow. Now, I just have to focus on not losing them between now and Valentine's Day! LOL.
I also supplied some extra sustenance. This went well with red wine.
I also had some candy conversation hearts. Boy, those got gobbled up. Sweet Pea found this one and said, "Hey, that's what Mom calls me on her blog!" She thought that was pretty neat.
That led to a discussion this morning about Popeye, Olive Oyl, and Swee' Pea. She had never heard of them before. So, I had to pull up some old cartoons and show her. Found this one with Swee' Pea in it.
Sweet Pea enjoyed it and watched it over and over again. :-) The oldies are always goodies, aren't they?
I have my post about the other quilt shop in Florida all ready to go. Just waiting for the go ahead from my mom to show you a photo of her. So, hopefully that will be up in the next day or so.
Until next time,
Mama Pea

How cute are those valentines! I bet it was fun getting together with friends and Sweet Pea to make these. You are such a good Mom!

Loved the valentines!! Wish they'd had something like that when MY kids were little! ;-)
Also loved watching Popeye again after many, many years. I can just hear Sweet Pea roaring with laughter watching Popeye first saving the day and then getting in so much trouble with Olive Oyl! What a guy!
