Do you remember when I went to my retreat this summer, I blogged about how Terri of Terri's Notebook had made this awesome quilt?
I would really like to make this quilt. So would my friend, Linda of Little Bits and Pieces. So, Linda and I are hosting a little quilt-along. Won't you please join us? We both figured if we do a quilt along, it will keep us on task to actually get it done!
The original pattern was posted on the Purl Bee website. You can get to it by clicking here. We asked the gals at the Purl Bee if we could use the pattern to host the quilt along, and they graciously gave us permission to do so. The project was designed by Sherrilyn Wright of Lovely Design. Love, love, love her clean style!
We have set up a Flickr group for sharing photos of your progress. We would love it if you would join the Flickr group and post photos of what you make! Let's see how many different versions we can make. And if you're a beginner quilter, this does not look to be a difficult pattern!
Here's the plan...We'll start on September 1st. Each week, we'll be giving an assignment (e.g., the first week's assignment is to get the pattern and gather up your fabrics). Each week, we can all report on our progress via Flickr. The aim will be to have this quilted and bound by October 7th. If you keep up, you'll have a Christmas decoration or a gift all done by mid-October! What a great way to jumpstart your Christmas crafting...especially if you're a procrastinator like I am.
If you want to join, just leave a comment telling me so. And go join the Flickr group, too!
If you help us spread the word, Linda has a giveaway going! Just blog about the Quilt Along and then go to Linda's blog and leave her a comment, telling her you did. She'll put you in the running for a fat quarter pack she's offering!
I'm going to have some giveaways throughout the project also....Giveaways for people who stay on track and finish weekly assignments and finish the project on time! I'm just trying to help motivate you all to join and keep up! (Lord knows I need that kind of motivation frequently!)
We'd really love to have lots of you join in the fun. The more the merrier! Please come along for the ride.
Oh, and we are working on a button for the Quilt Along...stay tuned for that. You'll be able to download it and post it on your blog!
I'm actually thinking of making two Little Forest quilts...one in traditional green and another in very nontraditional Christmas colors. I'm also thinking of ways this could be adapted to be an Advent Calendar. (That's all bold talk for someone who's already a day late in getting her post up about this Quilt Along, wouldn't you say?!) Come on, get your creative juices flowing and get in the game!
Many thanks to Terri for inspiring this project, Linda for inspiring the Quilt Along, and Purl Bee for being so gracious in allowing us to use their pattern for this project. If you have time, please stop by their blogs and give them a shout out!
Today, I'm off to the Michigan Fiber Arts Festival with Sweet Pea. Really can't wait. I'll report on it later!
Until next time,
