Looky, looky what I finished this weekend!
I am SOOO happy with how this turned out so far! This is called Farmhouse quilt in Edyta Sitar's book Friendship Strips and Scraps. I am going to call it Home Sweet Michigan Home, because it celebrates all the bouty of Michigan.
For the appliqués I used a raw edge method, and blanket stitched them down. I have to tell you, I enjoyed every minute of working on this quilt top. I never felt rushed to get it done, just to get it done. I just enjoyed the process. I think it's the first time I've ever felt that way about a quilt!
I even enjoyed piecing this triangle border. And everything in this quilt just went together so nicely. It even measured perfect at the end! Most of my points on the triangles look really good. I cut off only one red one (just a tiny bit) and three white ones. But it isn't noticeable, and I am happy with it. I was really impressed that all my other ones were so perfect.
I just love it. I really want to quilt it myself (I think). But I'm so scared I'll ruin it. I am not sure I can bring myself to do it. I might have to ask Linda to do it for me. We'll see if I can get brave enough. I am going to put it away for a short time and practice quilting on some other things first. I also need to think about how I want to quilt it.
I can't wait to hang this up in my living room. But I am sort of sad to be done with it (at least to this point).
The whole time I was taking photos, Rosa was crawling around between my ankles. She is so funny. Such a sweet cat. But I was afraid I was going to step on her! At least she wasn't walking on the quilt.
Okay...Now for the giveaway! My birthday is this week (Wednesday), so I decided I'm going to have a week of giveaways. 'Tis better to give than receive, and I've received so much, I figure it's my turn to give back a little. Come back every day, becasue on some days, the prizes will be pretty big, and on some days, they will be pretty small. My mom was cleaning out her sewing room as she moved to Florida and needed to "downsize." She got rid of some pretty good stuff. And I've been cleaning out my room, too. (A little...) We'll start off with this one today.
I have a Schibbles pattern to give away. I LOVE this pattern. I must love it. I bought it twice! LOL! I found two of them in my pattern drawer. So, I'm giving one away. To accompany it, I'm giving away a fat quarter of this neat brown/black fabric from my mom's stash.
To enter, just leave a comment. I'm keeing this simple. That's all you have to do. If you want to blog about it so your friends can come by and enter, that's great. But, you don't need to in order to enter. I'll close the comments sometime tomorrow, when I make my next post, and randomly pick someone. So, come back tomorrow to see if you won and to enter again in tomorrow's giveaway. I will mail all the gifts out at the end of the week. I only have time to make one post office run! :-)
And YES, all you overseas people, this giveaway IS open to you!
Good luck on the giveaway! Hope you have a wonderful week!
Until next time,
